Position Summary
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing interdisciplinary center focused on innovative health services research, with an emphasis on real-world implementation, outcomes evaluation, and health system transformation.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a high-impact research program with an emphasis on implementation science, dissemination research, and/or health outcomes research, including but not limited to health equity, comparative effectiveness, and health system evaluation.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research addressing healthcare delivery, access, quality, and outcomes, with a focus on translating evidence into practice.
  • Establish and maintain a sustained portfolio of extra-murally funded research, with strong preference for candidates who bring active funding at the time of hire and a demonstrated trajectory of continued funding success.
  • Lead the development, submission, and management of competitive grant proposals to federal, state, and foundation funding agencies.
  • Publish high-impact, peer-reviewed scholarly work in leading journals in implementation science, outcomes research, and health services research.
  • Provide active mentorship and career development support to junior faculty, trainees, and students, including guidance in research design, grant writing, and publication strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of a supportive and collaborative research environment that fosters junior investigator success and faculty development.
  • Engage in teaching activities in health services research, implementation science, epidemiology, or related fields at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners across C4HR, UICOMP, healthcare systems, and community organizations.
  • Participate in institutional, departmental, and professional service activities.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD with MPH, PhD, DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in Health Services Research, Implementation Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related field.
  • Strong and demonstrated track record of research productivity in implementation science and/or outcomes research, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals.
  • Established record of, or clear potential for, success in securing extramural research funding, with strong preference for candidates with current active funding at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring trainees, junior faculty, or early-career investigators, with evidence of successful academic and research career development support.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary and collaborative research environments.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and mentorship.
