Job description

Description
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of public health focused on community-engaged research and implementation science and interventions to reduce interpersonal violence. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Teaching responsibilities may include bedside teaching to public health students, medical students, residents, and fellows. Additional teaching responsibilities include lectures, journal clubs, case conferences, simulation teaching, small group discussions, and other formats. Dedication to teaching is highly valued in our department.
Clinical responsibilities may include collaborating with interdisciplinary clinical teams; designing, evaluating, and implementing prevention initiatives; informing care pathways; addressing social and structural risk factors; identifying upstream contributors to injury; facilitating connections to supportive resources; integrating evidence-based interventions into care workflows; advancing prevention efforts; and supporting risk reduction and improved outcomes.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include collaborating and developing the candidate's expertise in implementation science and community engaged while contributing to research efforts on additional projects related to emergency care, trauma, violence, injury prevention, and reduction in poor health outcomes. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and trainees in the department and collaborating programs.
The committee seeks candidates who demonstrate the ability to conduct impactful community-engaged and implementation science research addressing violence prevention, injury prevention, emergency care, and safe communities and health care settings. Particular value will be placed on evidence of successful community partnerships, stakeholder-engaged research, and experience working with populations and systems relevant to the communities served by the institution. Familiarity with the tri-state region and/or established regional collaborations is considered an asset but is not required.
