Director of Culture, Impact & Sustainability

About the Role

Gordon Sinclair is looking for an organized, dependable HR Generalist to provide hands-on support at our production plant in Indiana, PA. This role is part of the Human Resources Department and has an expanded focus on sustainability, compliance, audits, documentation, and customer requests.

You will work closely with production employees, supervisors, plant leadership, product management, and other departments. Much of the work involves gathering information, maintaining accurate records, tracking deadlines, preparing documentation, and making sure important follow-up does not fall through the cracks.

This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed, process-driven work and wants to build experience across Human Resources, sustainability, ESG, compliance, and plant operations.

What You Will Do

  • Support day-to-day plant-level Human Resources priorities and related departmental projects.
  • Maintain trackers, files, evidence, dashboards, and supporting documentation for sustainability, ESG, compliance, and audit programs.
  • Gather data and assist with carbon accounting, environmental reporting, annual ESG reporting, and sustainability portals.
  • Track recurring deadlines, annual submissions, renewals, corrective actions, and follow-up items.
  • Help prepare for recurring audits and assessments, including EcoVadis, Higg FEM, SMETA 4-Pillar, FSC, ESEP/Sumerra, customer audits, and other compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate information and documentation with production, operations, Human Resources, Product Management, and other internal partners.
  • Complete customer questionnaires, distributor portals, vendor scorecards, and sustainability or compliance-related requests.
  • Prepare organized, customer-ready packets, proof points, and supporting materials.
  • Support onsite compliance activities, including documentation for environmental screenings, operational reviews, and OSHA-related visits.
  • Partner with the Product Management Specialist to gather and organize product-related compliance information while keeping technical product decisions with Product Management.
  • Provide professional, responsive follow-through for employees, supervisors, customers, distributors, and internal teams.

What a Typical Day May Include

Your day may include checking deadlines and open requests, following up with plant or department partners for information, updating trackers and portals, organizing audit evidence, preparing a customer questionnaire, and helping the Director keep several recurring priorities moving at the same time. This is an onsite role with regular interaction across the plant and office.

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong organization skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage several recurring deadlines and priorities without losing follow-through.
  • Comfort working independently while staying closely aligned with department leadership.
  • Professional and approachable communication with production employees, supervisors, plant leadership, customers, and internal departments.
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with structured data, trackers, portals, and documentation.
  • Reliability, responsiveness, good judgment, and a willingness to step into related priorities as needs change.

Experience That Is Helpful

  • Experience supporting audits, customer documentation, questionnaires, portals, or recurring program work.
  • Experience in manufacturing, promotional products, branded merchandise, supplier compliance, or another plant-based environment.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or a similar business system.

A college degree is not required. Relevant experience, strong follow-through, and the ability to learn new processes are more important than a specific educational path.

What Success Looks Like

  • Audits, submissions, and recurring deadlines are organized and less reactive.
  • Customer requests, questionnaires, portals, and scorecards are completed accurately and on time.
  • Important records and supporting evidence are easy to locate and ready when needed.
  • Plant employees, supervisors, and internal departments receive timely and organized support.
  • The Human Resources Department has stronger day-to-day execution capacity across HR, sustainability, compliance, and audit priorities.

This is a full-time, onsite position with a Monday-Friday schedule. Gordon Sinclair offers a competitive benefits package that includes:

  • 401(k) plan with company match

  • Generous paid time off

We believe employees do their best work when they have dependable benefits, time to recharge, and a consistent weekday schedule.
