Overview

The Powder Tender is responsible for monitoring and maintaining cementitious material storage systems, unloading cement and fly ash deliveries, maintaining plant equipment, tracking inventory levels, assisting with plant operations, and performing general maintenance duties to ensure uninterrupted concrete production.

The Powder Tender is a full-time position that requires travel with overtime through peak season, reports to the Foreman, and has no supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects.
  • Perform a variety of tasks in the concrete paving industry.
  • Operate tools and equipment as needed.
  • Complete pre- and post-shift inspections and assist with maintenance or repair of equipment as needed.
  • Maintain portable batch plant and power supply.
  • Oversee unloading and direct powder tankers in the yard.
  • Lift heavy objects, tear down, maintain, repair, and clean equipment.
  • Keep daily quantities of powder supply.
  • Hook trucks up to silos.
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e., work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours).

Requirements

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
  • Basic maintenance skills.
  • MSHA Certification.
  • Experience and knowledge of general construction, welding, and operating equipment.
  • Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal.

  • Pushing/Pulling/Twisting/Bending.
  • Sitting/Standing/Balancing.
  • Operate hand and foot controls.
  • Simple/Firm grasping/Pinching.
  • Ability to lift/lower/carry over 50 pounds.
