Job description

Job Summary
The Golf Player Assistant & Starter is responsible for ensuring an exceptional experience for all customers, members, guests, and staff at Sunset Valley Golf Club. This role manages the flow of play on the course, enforces pace of play policies, and provides assistance to golfers while maintaining the club's operating standards. Additionally, the position includes starting groups on time, enforcing course regulations, and supporting daily golf operations with professionalism and courtesy.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties
Include, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide excellent customer service to all customers, members, guests, and staff.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
• Understand and enforce the golf course Pace of Play Policy and keep accurate records using the Pace of Play worksheet.
• Manage tee times, ensuring golfers begin at their designated time and play from the appropriate tees.
• Communicate with other staff regarding group start times, cart assignments, and course flow.
• Assist golfers with questions, needs, or concerns, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
• Maintain and operate the Player Assistant cart, ensuring it is clean and charged.
• Mark hazards, fill divots, and repair ball marks during slow periods to help maintain course conditions.
• Ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and secure.
• Assist with league preparation, special events, and other club operations as needed.
• Utilize facility POS systems and operations software to assist with course management and transactions.
• Communicate any course concerns to the management team
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in a golf course, club, hospitality, or customer service role is preferred but not required. Preferred knowledge and understanding of the game of golf. Willingness and ability to exhibit a professional and polite appearance at all times. Strong organizational skills. Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks.
Wage Range: $15.20-$17.60 per hour
Classification: Seasonal, non-exempt

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time and to stand, walk and reach with their hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Adequate hearing is required for this position.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
