Job description


The opportunity

As a Ramp Agent at Jazz, you will be part of a team that ensures the safe and on-time arrival and departure of aircraft. During your workday, you will set up ground equipment for arriving aircraft, marshal aircraft into and out of their designated parking positions, and load and unload customer baggage and cargo. You will relay important information to our pilots and other team members. Your team will be diverse, reflecting a wide range of backgrounds, ages, skills, abilities, and personalities. You will be expected to treat both co-workers and customers with the utmost care and respect. This is a safety-critical position. Operating procedures must be strictly followed while driving vehicles and performing tasks in close proximity to aircraft. Jazz operates flights under the Air Canada Express brand on behalf of Air Canada, however, duties may occasionally be performed for other air carriers as well.
 

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Customer Service, new employees will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist passengers with disabilities during aircraft boarding and deplaning;
  • Clean/groom aircraft between flights;
  • Operate various types of ground support equipment and vehicles;
  • Ensure aircraft safety through the use of wheel chocks and protective equipment during inclement weather;
  • Complete electronic and paper forms related to equipment maintenance, employee safety and performance monitoring;
  • Engage in continuous learning to enhance ramp-related skills and responsibilities;
  • Be responsible for assigned shifts and, when possible, assist coworkers by covering shifts due to illness or other unavailability;
  • Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers;
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.  


Required qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bondable.
  • Valid Canadian issued driver's license with no restrictions and/or conditions.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Willing and able to work varying shifts.
  • English language fluency or working knowledge.


Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to operate ground vehicles and ground support equipment.
  • Previous ramp agent experience.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods regulations.
  • Bilingual (English and French).
