Job Title: Assistant Foreman
Job Description
The Assistant Foreman supports the waterproofing of exterior balconies on a multi-family construction project in Mission, KS. This role works closely with foremen, laborers, and craftsmen to perform hands-on construction tasks, maintain a safe and clean job site, and ensure high-quality workmanship on a commercial new-build project.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the waterproofing of exterior balconies on a multi-family construction project, following established methods and quality standards.
- Support foremen and other team members in day-to-day construction activities, including concrete work, carpentry, framing, and finishing tasks as needed.
- Perform general labor duties such as material handling, site preparation, and assisting craftsmen with their work.
- Use power tools and construction equipment safely and correctly under supervision and in accordance with site guidelines.
- Assist with concrete finishing activities, including preparation, placement, and finishing of concrete surfaces.
- Help with drywall-related tasks as directed, including handling materials and supporting installation activities.
- Read or follow basic blueprints and instructions provided by supervisors to complete assigned tasks accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by assisting with site cleanup throughout the day and at the end of shifts.
- Collaborate effectively with other foremen, laborers, and craftsmen to complete tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines.
- Follow directions from supervisors and experienced team members, asking questions when needed to ensure tasks are completed correctly.
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new skills and construction techniques and apply feedback to improve performance.
- Comply with all site safety rules, procedures, and best practices while performing physical construction tasks in a commercial environment.
Essential Skills
- Intermediate general labor skills in a construction setting, with the ability to work alongside other laborers and craftsmen on-site.
- Relevant construction experience, particularly in commercial or multi-family projects.
- Previous experience in laborer or carpentry work, with familiarity in basic construction practices.
- Experience with concrete work and concrete finishing tasks.
- Basic carpentry, framing, and finish work capabilities.
- Ability to assist with drywall-related tasks in a commercial construction environment.
- Competence in using power tools safely and effectively under supervision.
- Ability to follow blueprints or basic construction drawings and instructions.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work well with foremen, laborers, and craftsmen.
- Ability to take direction and follow instructions accurately and consistently.
- Willingness to learn and develop new construction skills on the job.
- Physical ability to perform general labor tasks, including lifting, carrying, and working on an active construction site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience on commercial new-build construction projects.
- Exposure to waterproofing systems or exterior balcony work.
- Familiarity with welding is beneficial but not required.
- Ability to adapt to different tasks and support multiple trades on-site.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a focus on safety and quality.

Work Environment
The role is based on a commercial new-build construction site focused primarily on multi-family projects. Work takes place outdoors and indoors in an active construction environment, including exterior balcony areas and structural building components. The position involves regular use of power tools and construction equipment, working alongside foremen, laborers, carpenters, and other craftsmen. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, with tasks that require standing, lifting, and moving materials throughout the day. Standard construction-site attire, including appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment, is required in accordance with site safety policies.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.40 - $42.94/hr.
