Job description

Full-Time Food Service Worker
Rock Valley Community Programs provides transitional and supportive housing, addiction and mental health treatment services to adults in the Rock County area. We provide these services to homeless male veterans, clients connected to the criminal justice system, and outpatient care to anyone needing assistance with addiction and/or mental health treatment.
Position:
Our Food Service Worker (FSW) prepare meals in large quantities while assisting with kitchen operations, food safety compliance, inventory, stocking, sanitation, and supervision of kitchen staff and resident prep workers. Support special events, maintain compliance with food service and safety regulations, and oversee kitchen operations during assigned shifts. Enforce program rules, ensure resident accountability, and complete incident reports as needed. Maintain awareness of emergency procedures, communicate effectively through daily email and shift log documentation, foster positive working relationships with staff, and uphold regular attendance and timely communication with supervisors.
Status: Full-Time
Shift: 11am-7pm (rotating schedule with E/O weekend off)
Pay: Starting at $17.33
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve meals in a large-scale kitchen environment.
  • Lead kitchen operations and assist in supervising kitchen staff and resident prep workers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen while ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • Assist with food ordering, inventory, stocking, and meal preparation.
  • Support and coach residents while promoting accountability and program expectations.
  • Collaborate with staff to provide quality food service and support special events.
  • Maintain accurate communication through daily shift logs and work as part of a positive, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience in food service, culinary programs, or cooking preferred
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must complete TB test and drug screening (on-site) and pre-employment physical (off-site)
  • Completion of CPR, First Aid, CBRF Fire Safety, and Choking training within 90 days
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a state and federal background check.
