Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Flight Operations Support Specialist

Department: OCC – Operations Control Center

Reports To: Flight Operations Manager

Location: Anchorage, AK

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position will directly support and assist the Flight Operations Manager with all aspects of Kalitta Air flight operations by providing and facilitating clear and concise communication to and from all relevant Kalitta Air staff, vendors, and customers as necessary for the daily operation of the Kalitta Air ANC station. This position will assist flight and ground personnel (internal and external) with swift and effective problem solving to efficiently and safely maintain an on-time operation culminating with a quality product to the final customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Work with internal and external staff on tasks assigned by the Flight Operations Manager
  2. Communicate with flight crews, operations departments, and vendors to resolve issues, ensuring all stakeholders are updated in a timely manner
  3. Handle high-volume, high-tempo work demands while meeting deadlines
  4. Utilize working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, and related software
  5. Provide necessary supplies for flight and ground crews
  6. Coordinate catering to meet flight schedules and crew needs
  7. Provide responsive support to flight crews, ensuring needs are addressed efficiently
  8. Ensure smooth daily operations with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  9. Other duties assigned by the Flight Operations Manager
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate; some college and or technical school desirable or equivalent professional military education and/or experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff.


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required but not all inclusive.

Employee must be willing and able to obtain and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) credentials with an unrestricted U.S. Customs background clearance and must also hold a valid driver’s license with the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in a high-traffic aircraft operations area.

Employee must have a heightened sense of situational awareness in order to safely function in this environment.

Employee must have very good interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee will need to be able to climb stairs and ladders and carry up to 40lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employee will primarily perform duties in an office setting where the noise level is usually controlled. However, the position also requires working in and around aircraft operational areas (ramps, flight lines, hangars, warehouses, etc.) and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
