Job description

Magna Capital Management (MCM) is a privately held real estate investment firm focused exclusively on the lodging sector. The hotel industry’s fragmented ownership, capital intensity, operational complexity, and human-resource demands create a wide range of attractive investment opportunities. Unlike many hotel investment firms, our team manages every stage of the investment lifecycle in-house. By controlling both strategy and execution, we can ensure strong alignment with investor objectives and consistent value creation. Our team is committed to delivering superior returns while upholding the highest standards of integrity, stewardship, and operational excellence.

This position is in-office at our corporate offices in Rhode Island.

What you will be doing

Operations Analysis

  • Review and analyze the monthly operating performance of hotel assets
  • Prepare materials for monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings with senior company executives
  • Prepare financial projections, valuations, and ROI analyses
  • Conduct benchmarking analyses against other hotels within the portfolio to help identify areas for improvement
  • Assist with preparing annual marketing, operating, and capital budgets
  • Prepare market research and supply analysis studies

Business Development

  • Evaluate hotel investment and management opportunities through the creation of financial pro-forma projections, assessing capital requirements, and analyzing the returns, including sensitivity analyses
  • Prepare presentations, case studies, and pitch decks for new management and investment deals to be presented to owners and investors
  • Research markets and synthesize data to analyze investments
  • Assist in due diligence for transition to Magna management
The ideal candidate for this position
  • A four-year degree from an accredited college or university is required. There is a preference for candidates with hotel experience through formal education or work experience. Additionally, any training or exposure within the real estate sector is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, and AI tools such as ChatGPT or Perplexity.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are a must to interact with groups internally and externally, including senior executives
  • Ability to multitask various projects to hard deadlines, including prioritizing and time-managing recurring duties and ad hoc tasks as they arise
