Pool Physician Assistant – Dermatology

The Physician Assistant (PA) provides healthcare services that are typically performed by a physician and are under the scope of practice of that physician. These services are provided by the PA under the supervision of an appropriate physician listed with the Georgia Medical Board.

Under the supervision of a physician, the PA is responsible for the following: conducting comprehensive physical examinations and assessments, providing treatment, ordering diagnostic tests and in some cases may order medications as approved by a physician, developing treatment plans, performing specifically identified diagnostic procedures, and counseling patients. The PA will clearly and accurately document all assessments, orders, procedures, treatment plans and patient education/counseling in Healthconnect.

In accordance with recommendations by the American Academy of Dermatology, when a PA is seeing patients a dermatology MD should be present and on-site, except under unusual circumstances such as illness or other clinical emergencies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Physician Assistant Certificate program from an accredited college or university. Minimum of Bachelor's degree.
  • Physician Assistant license in the state of Georgia.
  • Certification obtained by passing the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Dermatology Physician's Assistant experience preferred
  • Current DEA
  • Current BLS
