Men's Basketball Graduate Assistant - Job Description
Position Title: Men's Basketball Graduate Assistant Department: Athletics - Men's Basketball Reports To: Head Men's Basketball Coach Classification: Graduate Assistant
Position Summary
The Men's Basketball Graduate Assistant supports the daily operations of the collegiate men's basketball program while pursuing a graduate degree at the institution. This position provides hands-on experience in coaching, recruiting, player development, operations, and administrative responsibilities within an NAIA athletic environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist coaching staff with daily basketball operations and practice preparation
  • Support player skill development through drills, workouts, and film review
  • Analyze game and practice film for scouting and performance evaluation
  • Coordinate team travel, meals, equipment, and practice logistics
  • Assist with recruiting efforts including correspondence, evaluations, and visit coordination
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress and promote academic success
  • Maintain statistical data, scouting reports, and recruiting databases
  • Help organize camps, clinics, and community outreach events
  • Assist with social media content and program promotion as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic administration

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Acceptance into a graduate degree program at the institution
  • Previous basketball playing, coaching, or team management experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel with the team
  • Proficiency with video editing, scouting software, and Microsoft Office is a plus

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with film breakdown software such as Hudl or Synergy
  • Strong understanding of basketball strategy and player development
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes and staff
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and work ethic

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during practices and games
  • Ability to lift and move basketball equipment and supplies
  • Ability to travel with the team as required
