Job description

Kapwing is building the next generation prompt-to-edit platform for video creators. Our mission is to make content creation fast, accessible, and collaborative. In doing so, we enable everyone to share their story online. Kapwing has two products:

- Kapwing AI: A prompt-first AI editing companion that helps creators refine visual content. Instead of learning complex design software, users can chat with Kai to explore content ideas instantly in the browser. Kapwing AI launched in Fall 2025, and leverages the best LLMs and generative models to empower users to ideate, edit, and generate images, videos, and audio.

- Kapwing Studio: An online video editor that is collaborative, powerful, and easy to use. Millions of creators every month choose Kapwing to tell their story and bring their ideas to life.

Kapwing turns video editing, traditionally a heavyweight, time consuming workflow, into a joyful, collaborative experience. We believe that we can use technology to augment the video editing and content creation experience, and we've already started on this path with a wide array of templates, plugins, and new pipelines for combining tooling with the best AI models.

Join us on our journey to democratize creative tools and invent the future stack of video creation.

  • Design, test, and implement LLM powered pipelines to automate away tedious parts of visual design and video editing.

  • Prototype and test new technologies and generative models to evaluate quality, revise prompts, and improve performance.

  • Test new features, monitor releases, and mitigate risk.

  • Investigate and prototype new technologies and build applications on top of ML-powered APIs

  • Implement new features and improvements to Kapwing's Studio and other core products. Partner with product and growth to reach new creators and sell to creative enterprises.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of production-level software engineering experience in a modern web stack

  • 2+ years of experience building on top of LLMs; Familiarity modifying files with LLM tool calling
