Job Duties

Hours: 40 hours/week, Mon.-Fri., 8 hours/day, 7:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.

Employer may request but cannot require workers to work on their Sabbath. The nature of farm work may require workers to work after dark and possibly weekends depending on weather conditions. Hours offered may vary based on factors such as weather or other unpredictable variables that impact the farm's operation.

Work Locations: Lake City, Millville, and Goodhue, Minnesota

Employees on farms, will perform general maintenance tasks including repair livestock buildings. Repair and/or install feed equipment, waterlines, gating, insulation, doors, ceilings, and roofs. Repair ventilation equipment. Framing, tin sheeting, and welding for buildings and equipment repairs and remodeling. Equipment Maintenance requires hand tools and all other necessary tools provided to change oil and do other equipment maintenance that can only be done in good weather conditions throughout the spring, summer and fall. Bait stations will be placed in order to keep mice from entering our buildings and causing damage or spreading diseases. Bait is placed every other week during contract period. Employees will also participate in the maintenance and repair, upkeep of farm and facility maintenance of livestock confinements. Feeding and caring for livestock when needed. Cleaning the livestock confinement and sanitizing the building. Mowing and weed eating outside the livestock confinement to keep clear pathways for vehicles and maintain worksite cleanliness. Employees will also be required to take part in lawn care which will require the use of lawn mower, rakes, branch cutter, and weed cutters. Employees may assist with all aspects of corn production. In the fall, harvest and preparation would start in late September and run through December. Grain hauling from remote locations continues after harvest through the winter months as we store it for later usage as feed. Employees will also participate in the spreading of manure to maintain farm soil quality. Manure is applied in the fall from late September through December when crops are removed, and the ground is not frozen. Laborers are responsible for preparing, maintaining, cleaning, and operating all machinery and equipment used for the handling of the manure. Truck transportation is needed for the handling of crop inputs and grain. Equipment operated may include ATV, pickup, semi-truck, tractor, seed tender or combine harvester.

The employer maintains a drug, and alcohol-free workplace. Upon hire, workers may be subject to random drug testing at no cost to the worker. A positive test result or failure to comply with testing requirements may result in immediate termination of employment.

Minimum Education Required

No High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience Required

Two (2) months of recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed.

Must be able to speak and understand English.

Must be able to obtain appropriate driver's license following hire and obtain clean driving record.

Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Able to perform work that requires exposure to extreme temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, and repetitive movements.

Additional Compensation

Employer may, at the company's sole discretion, pay workers at a rate above the minimum required and/or provide additional compensation such as bonuses, fixed salaries, PTO, insurance, incentive pay, or other benefits to any worker employed under this job order based on lawful, non-discriminatory factors including skill, performance, tenure with the employer, licensing, training, punctuality, or prior related experience.

As required for all workers in Minnesota, hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at the rate of 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.

EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.

Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.
