Expeditor

Reports to: Shipping Manager

The Expeditor serves as a coordinator between the sales department / production team / shipping team to give strategic support to ensure the accurate, timely and thorough completion of customer orders.

Essential Functions/Duties
  • Ensure that all employees observe and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Review, organize and distribute job tags to production.
  • Update Shipping Department order list as new orders come in and keep orders updated as they are processed.
  • Schedule trucks to pick up orders when completed.
  • Communicate with jobsites when direct shipments are needed to ensure they can receive delivery on a certain date.
  • Upload pictures of complete orders that have been checked for accuracy.
  • Assist with Shipping Log as needed.
  • Communicate and manage expedited order requests or tightened lead times with production team.
  • Notify Sales Representatives of any order issues, updated projected ship dates, missed ship dates, etc. for communication with customers. Address customer inquiries related to order status or ship dates.
  • Perform random thread inspections at times to verify conformance.
  • Assist with ordering department supplies as needed.
  • Assist with paperwork for production employees to make sure they are working on the correct jobs.
  • Learn production positions and functions to help if needed.
  • Willing and able to perform additional functions/duties as asked by the department Supervisor and/or Manager.
  • At times be responsible for inventory counts of hardware, organizing and communicating with Supervisor and/or Manager to order as needed.

Physical/Cognitive Demands

This is a physically active role including walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility, lifting 50lbs or more, and standing for prolonged periods. Position also requires bending, stooping, squatting, or standing, as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression. This job operates in a manufacturing plant setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can at times be loud; the use of hearing protection is required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Mandatory weekend and overtime hours are required on a recurring basis.
