Assistant Equine Insurance Jobs in California (NOW HIRING)

Bayhill Equine is a fully ambulatory equine veterinary practice specializing in sports medicine and serving the San Francisco Peninsula. We are seeking a compassionate, hardworking, and team-oriented Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team.

Position Overview
This position provides direct support to our ambulatory equine veterinarians in the field. Every day is different, offering opportunities to work with advanced diagnostic equipment, assist with a wide variety of medical procedures, and help deliver exceptional care to performance horses and companion equine patients throughout the Peninsula.
Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
• Prepare, operate, and maintain specialized diagnostic equipment, including digital radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of commonly used equine medications, treatments, and veterinary techniques.
• Safely handle horses in a variety of situations, including trotting, lunging, and managing horses under sedation or those that may be anxious or reactive.
• Drive company vehicles to farm calls throughout the service area.
• Maintain inventory, cleanliness, and organization of ambulatory vehicles.
• Assist with medical record documentation and invoice entry.
• Support the team in providing outstanding client service and patient care.

Qualifications
Required

• Strong horse handling experience, including trotting, lunging, and confidently working around horses in various behavioral and medical situations.
• Valid California driver's license with dependable transportation.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn veterinary software.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to remain organized, adaptable, and effective in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including participation in evening and weekend on-call emergency rotations.

Preferred

• Previous experience in veterinary medicine or equine veterinary practice is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation:

• Base hourly rate of $21.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
• Eligible for periodic bonus
