American Plastics, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative plasticinjection molded products for the household & garage storage and commercial cleaning end-markets. We are searching for a Test Lab Technician for our Innovation Center in Findlay, OH. This position will report to the Test Engineer.ย 

Quality Assurance is essential for maintaining customer satisfaction and trust. The Test Lab Technician plays a crucial role in upholding these standards. They're responsible for meticulously testing products, identifying any performance inconsistencies, and ensuring that every tested material or part meets the company's performance criteria. By taking pride in their work and attention to detail, they contribute to delivering consistently high-quality products to our customers, proudly made in the USA.


Responsibilities: ย 

  • Set up, operate, and maintain testing equipment and instruments.ย 
  • Perform all scheduled daily product and material lab testing.ย 
  • Work with Test Engineer to correctly identify performance non-conformances and applicable root cause(s).ย 
  • Accurately complete all reports and able to effectively communicate findings.ย 
  • Support product validation, verification, and failure analysis activities.ย 
  • Assist engineers in developing new testing procedures and methods.ย 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality) to resolve issues.
  • Calibrate lab instruments and verify accuracy of measurement equipment.ย 
  • Train others on test methods.ย 
  • Document test processes and maintain accurate records for audits and traceability.ย 
  • Able to read, interpret, and execute applicable ASTM standards, SOP's and Work Instructions.ย 
  • Ensure compliance with American Plastics safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized lab environment.ย 
  • Additional responsibilities at management discretion.ย 

A successful Test Lab Technician should have the following skills.

  • Ability to learn and operate all applicable lab test equipment.ย 
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.ย 
  • Familiarity with measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.).ย 
  • Positive company attitude.ย 
  • Task oriented.ย 
  • Able to identify potential performance issues.ย 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.ย 
  • No more than 4 attendance points.
  • No prior write-ups within the last year.ย 
  • Able to accept accountability.



Requirements

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting to 50 lbs. and up to 80 lbs. team lift.ย 
  • Communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
  • Testing experience in a laboratory environment is a plus.ย 
  • Must demonstrate good judgement and decision-making ability.ย 
  • Highly motivated self starter and able to work independently.ย 
  • Adhere to all safety procedures & help promote a clean lab environment.
  • Proficient with basic computer skills (Excel/Word, data logging software
