Job Description
The EMC Technician is responsible for performing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing on electrical and electronic products in accordance with applicable regulatory and international standards. This role supports compliance engineers by setting up test configurations, executing test plans, collecting data, and ensuring accurate and repeatable results in an accredited laboratory environment.
EMC Technician Responsibilities & Duties Include but are not Limited to the Following:
Test Execution
  • Perform EMC testing including:
    • Radiated Emissions (RE)
    • Conducted Emissions (CE)
    • Immunity testing (ESD, EFT, Surge, Radiated Immunity)
  • Execute test plans in accordance with standards such as:
    • FCC Part 15
    • CISPR 32
    • IEC 61000-4-2
    • IEC 61000-4-3

Data Collection & Documentation
  • Record test data accurately and completely
  • Capture test configurations, photos, and observations
  • Maintain clear and traceable test records in accordance with lab procedures

Qualifications
Basic Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or prior experience with equivalent hands on testing in EMC, RF testing

Basic Minimum Work Requirements:
  • Minimum 0-3 years of experience in EMC/EMI testing
  • Comfortable with using Spectrum Analyzers and Receivers
  • Experience working with FCC/CISPR EMC Standards
  • Understanding basic lab safety
  • Basic understanding of EMC principles (Emissions vs Immunity, Conducted vs Radiated Disturbances)
  • Equipment and Lab Skills
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, word)
  • Ability to assist in test setup and results reporting.
  • Attention to detail, following procedures, good communication with engineers and managers

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to move and setup test equipment (25-50 lbs)

Additional Information
Position is full-time working Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Irvine, CA are encouraged to apply.
