Communication can also be complex, as RNs must collaborate efficiently with on-site clinicians and other eICU team members using telehealth technology. To manage these challenges, it's important to develop robust communication protocols, stay updated with telemedicine best practices, and actively participate in team briefings to ensure seamless patient care.

What does an eICU nurse do?

An eICU nurse monitors critically ill patients remotely using telehealth technology, providing real-time assessment and support to bedside staff. They interpret patient data, assist with clinical decision-making, and ensure timely interventions, often working with specialized software and following strict protocols. This role requires strong critical thinking, communication skills, and typically a registered nurse license with ICU experience.
