Position Summary: We are looking for a full time Registered Nurse to work as a Charge Nurse in our busy 15-bed Women's Services Department. Predominately 12-hour shifts, three per week on nights. Though subject to change based on the needs of the department.

  • Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shifts.
  • Determines staffing level and assignment based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow.
  • Provides direct patient care, and technical aspects of patient care according to established policy & procedure
  • Assures the safety and privacy of patients at all times
  • Demonstrates accurate interpretation and documentation of fetal monitor tracing
  • Safely & successfully places fetal scalp electrode when need identified and appropriate
  • Demonstrates skills needed to safely and efficiently prepare patient for C-section
  • Demonstrates understanding of physician orders for postpartum pts.
  • Identifies changing patient needs and alters nursing care appropriately
  • Verbalizes and demonstrates understanding of epidural anesthesia protocol
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in assisting during vaginal delivery, including vacuum or forceps delivery
  • Communicates effectively with various audiences using the most appropriate method for the situation using briefs, de-briefs, huddles, and rounding as the main source.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Associate's degree or higher in nursing

Experience: 1-3 years of progressive nursing experience in an acute hospital setting required.

Requirements: Current Nevada RN license. American Heart Association Certifications: BLS upon hire and, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation within 90-days upon hire.
