Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
Oversee Echo Lab to ensure quality studies are performed and Intersocietal Accreditation Committee (IAC) accreditation is maintained. Perform echocardiogram studies demonstrating superior quality and accuracy that adhere to IAC standards. Ability to obtain measurements with a degree of accuracy to allow diagnosis of normal and abnormal anatomic variants.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience: Experience: 3 years echo experience, prior IAC Technical Director Experience preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications: Appropriate CPR Certification. Cardiac Sonography credentials (RDCS, RCS, or ACS)
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Requires reading, writing and mathematical skills. Must interface daily with physicians, other department supervisors and employees, outside service personnel and visitors in an effective manner. Must have visual/hearing acuity, and ability to communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualification: Baccalaureate degree in related field
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Reinforces HMHD's values, promotes HMHD's Compliance Plan and demonstrates proficiency in understanding of training materials and applicable laws and standards.
2. Completes the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs and ensures department employees complete their required education (in a timely manner) according to HMHD policies.
3. Assists the Compliance Officer and the Executive Compliance Committee in identifying "high risk" issues within his/her department.
4. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
5. Maintains Intersocietal Accreditation Committee (IAC) accreditation of Echo lab, including but not limited to the following duties:
a. Reaccreditation applications -- triennially
b. Echo lab quality assurance reviews - Physician Variability, Sonographer Variability, Timeliness reports, Correlation reports, Physician volume tracking, Sonographer volume tracking
c. Create and maintain Echo lab policies - coordinate with Echo lab Medical Director to ensure accuracy and adherence to American Society of Echocardiography standards
d. Prepare presentations for required IAC/Cardiovascular Services meetings
e. Ensure timely interpretation of completed studies through communication with physicians
6. Assists director in interviewing Cardiac Sonographer candidates
7. Preceptor for all Cardiac Sonographers
8. Assigned super user for ISCV reading station, first point of troubleshooting for both Cardiac Sonographers and physicians. Responsible for escalating issues when needed.
9. Echo lab staff scheduling
10. Maintain echo equipment and schedule preventive maintenance and service calls as needed
11. First point of contact for physician concerns related to the Echo lab and studies performed - provides staff guidance/retraining when necessary.
12. Assist with Cardiopulmonary payroll and timecard editing.
13. Coordinate observation/education of Cardiac Sonographer students with staff Cardiac Sonographers.
14. Other duties as assigned
