Job description

We are currently seeking a Dog Trainer to join our team!

This position requires traveling to clients homes. You must have your own form of transportation around the Northern / Central NJ area to conduct private in-home obedience training sessions. Gas and mileage will be compensated.

Experience with dogs is required but no prior training knowledge is necessary. We will train you according to our program—must be trainable and willing to take instruction.

Responsibilities include, driving to conduct in-home training sessions, attend events when necessary, help organize indoor/outdoor group-training sessions, contribute to our social media platform.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring DTE Training Standards and Values are met at all times.
  • Reviewing the Google calendar for scheduled training sessions assigned to you.
  • Regular check-in's with your team.
  • Read and keep a log of notes in the CRM after each training session.
  • Assist dog training team with the execution of the training plans and problem solving difficult training scenarios.
  • Group class scheduling and oversight.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute and help maintain an active social media presence,
  • Assist with in-person marketing events, including set up and break down.
  • Following up with clients who need additional/expert training assistance.
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Some out of state travel may be involved for advanced training purposes.
  • ​​​Additional duties as assigned.​​​

Qualifications:

  • To speak English and relay to clients the DTE techniques we use to train obedient dogs, using clear communication skills.
  • Interact with animals in a calm, non-threatening manner.
  • Ability to self-start in a flexible work environment.
  • Previous experience in animal care or other related fields is a plus.
  • Multi-lingual or Spanish speaking is a plus but not necessary.
