Controller Position Summary
As the Controller, you will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. You will provide strategic financial leadership to support decision-making and enhance the company's financial health. Working closely with senior management, you will play a key role in financial planning, cost control, and operational efficiency across our divisions.

Controller Job Description Essential Duties
• Oversee financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Manage the preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
• Supervise accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and closing processes.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
• Oversee tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Analyze income and expense variances, providing insights for operational improvements.
• Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Manage special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for all company divisions.
• Monitor job costing and profitability analysis to support cost management strategies.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership for strategic decision-making.
• Oversee financial systems, ensuring accuracy, security, and integration across company operations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and accounting best practices.
• Establish and maintain systems and controls to verify financial integrity and enhance company value.
• Serve as a key liaison for financial matters, responding to executive leadership and regulatory inquiries.

• Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations

• Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time

• Process accounts and collecting payments

• Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money

• Monitor cash and funding balances

• Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review

• Manage the quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts

• Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and chief financial officer

• Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors

• Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices

• Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting

• Ensuring company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements

• Additional controller duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting or financial management.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Experience with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the transportation or logistics industry.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience in an accounting role.
• Familiarity with industry-specific financial software and systems.
• Job costing experience.
