Van Driver & Setup Assistant Saturday Mornings

Location: Springfield and Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
Employment Type: Temporary, part-time W-2 employee.
Assignment Length: Approximately 7 weeks.
Schedule: Saturday mornings, plus one scheduled weekday evening.
Estimated Hours: Approximately 23 hours per regular shift.
Pay Range:
Starting from $15/hour commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Position

A mobile healthcare program is seeking a dependable and safety-focused driver to move, position, set up, and prepare a mobile medical van at scheduled locations throughout the Springfield and Champaign-Urbana area.

This is a temporary, part-time position primarily scheduled on Saturday mornings. The driver will move the van to its next service location, safely park and position it, complete the required setup, and confirm that the unit is ready for the clinical team.

Previous healthcare or mammography experience is not required. Candidates must have experience safely driving and maneuvering a cargo van, box truck, shuttle vehicle, recreational vehicle, mobile service vehicle, or similar oversized vehicle.

Assignment Schedule

The driver will move the van to a new location within the Springfield and Champaign-Urbana area every Saturday morning for approximately seven weeks.

Each regular Saturday shift is expected to take approximately 23 hours, including driving, positioning, setup, and preparation of the van.

The driver must also be available for one additional move on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, beginning at approximately 5:306:00 p.m. and lasting a few hours.

Exact reporting times and locations will be provided in advance. Hours may vary based on travel distance, traffic, site access, weather, and operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Safely drive the mobile medical van between scheduled locations in the Springfield and Champaign-Urbana area.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks.
  • Safely maneuver, position, and park the van at each site.
  • Set up and prepare the van according to company instructions and training.
  • Connect and disconnect approved external power and related systems.
  • Set up steps, handrails, cones, signage, and other exterior equipment.
  • Confirm that doors, cabinets, equipment, and loose items are secured before moving the van.
  • Check fuel levels, tires, fluids, warning indicators, and general vehicle condition.
  • Keep the driver's area, entrance, exterior, and non-clinical areas organized.
  • Promptly report damage, maintenance concerns, delays, or site-access issues.
  • Communicate with the operations team after each move and setup are completed.
  • Follow all company vehicle, safety, and mobile-unit procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid standard driver's license.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Previous experience driving and parking a large cargo van, box truck, shuttle vehicle, recreational vehicle, mobile service vehicle, or similar oversized vehicle.
  • Comfort maneuvering a larger vehicle through parking lots, loading areas, narrow spaces, and unfamiliar locations.
  • Availability every Saturday morning for approximately seven weeks.
  • Availability on the evening of August 25, 2026.
  • Ability to learn and independently follow setup and breakdown procedures.
  • Ability to use GPS, email, mobile applications, and basic electronic reporting tools.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb steps, bend, reach, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong reliability, punctuality, communication, and attention to safety.
  • Ability to pass required background and motor vehicle record screenings.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience driving mobile medical units, mobile offices, recreational vehicles, event vehicles, delivery vehicles, or other specialty vehicles.
  • Experience connecting external power, setting up entry steps or handrails, placing safety equipment, or preparing a vehicle for onsite use.
  • Familiarity with Springfield, Champaign-Urbana, and surrounding Central Illinois roads.
