Job description

Summary of Job Function: Works to provide administrative and clinical tasks for consumers with serious mental illness, substance abuse, co-occurring or co-existing disorders. Provides oversight of the medication refill line/process, communicates regularly and timely with the physicians/practitioners, county staff, and consumers and families when indicated, completes vitals on assigned consumers, coordinates medical appointments, and obtains medication authorizations.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Functions:
1. Engages and communicates effectively with consumers and families/legal guardians, physicians/practitioners, health care providers, pharmacies, and team members.
2. Schedules appointments and assures all parties have relevant consents and information needed.
3. Provides referral for transportation for consumers as needed.
4. Completes vitals for consumers.
5. Documents all activities per policy.
6. Addresses all messages left on medication referral line within 24 hours MondayThursday and 72 hours Friday-Saturday.
7. Completes medication authorizations as assigned.
8. Notifies consumers and families/legal guardians if indicated of refill status, appointment and no show policy.
9. Makes referrals for other health care appointments as assigned.
10. Assists with scheduling as needed.
11. Adheres to confidentiality, HIPAA, and risk management policies and procedures including but not limited to completing Incident Reports.
12. Utilizes technology provided in order to perform job efficiently and effectively.
13. Meets training requirements as established, including but not limited to, CPR-First Aid and crisis intervention
14. All other duties assigned.
Job Specifications:
1. Education, Certification/License, and/or Experience
  • a. Associate Degree and Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • b. Valid Drivers License.

2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required: Experience and prior training working with mental health, substance abuse population, and co-existing population is preferred. Experience working with managing medication refill processes preferred.
