Job description

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant & Mail Room Support position. This position will support General Operations with administrative support functions. Work with managers in Fiscal Services, Information Services, People Operations, Civil Rights, and Audit Services. Responsible for the daily operations of a highvolume mail center servicing a large, fourfloor building with approximately 800 employees. Ensures accurate, timely, and secure handling of all incoming, outgoing, and interoffice mail and packages. Responsible for hands-on mail processing, recordkeeping, customer service, and coordination with various carriers. This position reports to the General Operations Manager and does not supervise others.

Required Education and Experience:

       1 year of experience in mail room support, office support or as an administrative assistant.

       This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

       Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

       Excellent customer service and communication skills.

       Frequent walking, bending, and lifting packages from 5 to 25 pounds.

Driver's record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant's permanent driving records. Compliance with Mont. Admin. R. 2.6.201, "State Vehicle Use," and MDT Policy #6.03.001, "State Vehicle Use Policy" are conditions of employment.
