Job description

Job Title: Director of Operations
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Operations
Location: Ontario, California
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Summary

The Director of Operations leads and optimizes Maury Microwave’s day-to-day manufacturing and operational activities at its Ontario, California facility. This position provides leadership across key operational functions, including Material Planning and Control, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Assembly & Test, and Manufacturing Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for Maury Microwave’s Ontario Operations organization, including Material Planning/Control, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Assembly & Test, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Ensure effective execution of production plans and customer commitments while maintaining appropriate standards for quality, cost, safety, and delivery.
  • Drive improvements in On-Time Delivery (OTD) through disciplined production planning, scheduling, material availability, capacity management, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Proactively identify production constraints, material shortages, capacity issues, quality concerns, and other risks that may affect customer delivery.
  • Establish, monitor, and drive meaningful operational KPIs, including On-Time Delivery, productivity, efficiency, quality, inventory, labor utilization, capacity, and other appropriate operational measures.
  • Establish a consistent operating cadence for reviewing performance, identifying gaps, assigning corrective actions, and ensuring accountability for results.
  • Provide regular operational performance reports and updates to the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methodologies to improve quality, productivity, efficiency, cost, and timeliness.
  • Improve production planning, scheduling, workflow, capacity management, and shop-floor visibility.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive operations and manufacturing experience, including significant leadership responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a high-technology electronics manufacturing environment supported by precision machining capabilities strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success improving On-Time Delivery, productivity, quality, operational efficiency, and manufacturing performance.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, scheduling, supply chain, inventory management, Lean principles, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and manage operational KPIs and drive accountability for measurable results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a hands-on, fast-paced, technically complex manufacturing environment.
