Job description

Job Summary:
  • We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Environmental Services amp; Laundry Director. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, families, visitors, and staff while ensuring high standards of quality, infection prevention, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • The ideal candidate is an organized, dependable leader who can effectively supervise staff while also being willing to work alongside the team when needed. A strong commitment to customer service, professionalism, kindness, and respect for residents and coworkers is essential.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee daily Environmental Services and Laundry operations.
  • Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate department employees.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and department coverage.
  • Oversee cleaning, disinfecting, sanitation, odor control, and overall facility appearance.
  • Perform and supervise floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and scrubbing.
  • Oversee laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, storage, and distribution of linens and resident clothing.
  • Maintain adequate supplies, chemicals, linens, and equipment and assist with ordering and cost control.
  • Ensure proper chemical handling, equipment use, PPE, infection prevention, and workplace safety practices.
  • Maintain required records, schedules, inspection reports, amp; training documentation,
  • Train staff on cleaning procedures, chemical safety, infection prevention, floor care, laundry procedures, and workplace safety.
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, conduct, and compliance with facility policies.
  • Participate in surveys, inspections, audits, QAPI activities, and regulatory reviews.
  • Communicate effectively with facility leadership, department heads, residents, families, vendors, and staff.
Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience in Environmental Services, (housekeeping, custodial services, laundry, healthcare, hospitality), or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with floor stripping and waxing.
  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning, sanitation, floor care, laundry operations, infection prevention, chemical handling, and workplace safety.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and professionalism.
Physical amp; Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work throughout the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, offices, laundry areas, storage areas, and EVS work areas.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, surveys, emergencies, or additional hours based on facility needs.
  • Position may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, cleaning and laundry chemicals, and other workplace hazards.
