The Assistant Director of Community Living supports the Director of Community Living in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Community Living services. This position provides leadership and supervision to case management staff while ensuring high-quality, person-centered services that align with organizational values, DDS regulations, funding requirements, and best practices. The Assistant Director serves as a resource for staff, families, guardians, providers, and community partners while promoting positive outcomes for individuals served. The position works collaboratively with organizational clinical staff to provide quality clinical support, consultation, and guidance to individuals served and to ensure effective coordination of behavioral health, clinical, and support services across Community Living programs..
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related clinical or human services field required.
  • LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, or master's-level clinician working toward independent licensure preferred. Candidates who are license-eligible and require clinical supervision are encouraged to apply.
  • 2-4 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, families, and/or community-based human services programs.
  • 1-3 years of experience in leadership with program management and supervision strongly preferred
  • Clinical experience working with individuals with behavioral health, developmental disabilities, mental health, substance use, or complex care needs.
  • Experience managing DDS services is strongly preferred.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision, consultation, and crisis support preferred.
  • Experience with budget oversight, performance management, and program development preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director with planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Community Living services to ensure alignment with organizational mission, person-centered practices, and applicable standards.
  • Provide direct supervision, support, coaching, and performance feedback to case management staff.
  • Support staff in developing, implementing, and monitoring service plans, goals, documentation, referrals, and follow-up activities for individuals served.
  • Review case records and documentation for quality, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with agency, funding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for staff regarding complex cases, service barriers, crisis situations, family or guardian concerns, and community resource needs.
  • Collaborate with the Director, clinical and program staff, external providers, families, guardians, and community partners to coordinate services and resolve concerns.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, staff development, and ongoing skill-building for case management staff.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, incident review, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with organizational clinical staff to provide quality clinical support, consultation, behavioral health coordination, and service planning for individuals served.
  • Prepare reports, track outcomes, monitor trends, and communicate updates to the Director as requested.
  • Provide coverage, leadership support, and other related duties as assigned by the Director.
  • Ensure that HCSIS updated in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, facilitate and ensure that Medication Treatment Plans are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure that each program meets established service targets and delivers high-quality services.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Community Living to ensure services are delivered in accordance with DDS standards, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain compliance with all DDS requirements including documentation, development of policy and procedures, and implementation of services.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Department to recruit, interview, hire, and retain qualified staff as needed. Supervise and evaluate staff, oversee training compliance, resolve personnel concerns, establish priorities, manage workloads, and provide support in decision-making. Establish and maintain a work environment that promotes positive morale, professional growth, quality service delivery, creativity, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Monitor program accomplishments and prepare reports to evaluate contractual compliance, departmental objectives, satisfaction survey results, performance outcomes, and other key indicators.
  • Support Community Living Coordinator to facilitate meetings with DDS and potential referrals for each program to navigate needs of individuals, fit for the programs, and assist in planning implementation of services.
  • Must have reliable transportation as this position may travel from individual’s home or meetings. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
