Essential Responsibilities
Resident Engagement
  • Encourage resident participation in daily activities and special events.
  • Build positive relationships with residents through meaningful interactions.
  • Provide one-on-one visits for residents who are unable or choose not to attend group activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet the individual interests and abilities of residents.
  • Promote resident independence, dignity, and choice.
Activity Programming
  • Assist with planning, setting up, and leading a variety of activities including:
    • Arts and crafts
    • Bingo and games
    • Exercise and wellness programs
    • Music and entertainment
    • Holiday celebrations
    • Educational programs
    • Social events
    • Community outings
  • Prepare activity supplies and clean up after programs.
  • Decorate the facility for holidays, seasonal events, and special occasions.
Resident Transportation & Safety
  • Assist residents to and from activities safely.
  • Observe residents during activities and report any concerns or changes in condition to nursing staff.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
Documentation
  • Document resident attendance and participation in activities as required.
  • Assist with maintaining activity calendars, bulletin boards, and resident communication.
  • Help gather resident preferences and activity interests.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with nursing, therapy, dietary, housekeeping, and other departments to support resident-centered care.
  • Participate in department meetings and assist with special events.
  • Support volunteers, entertainers, and community groups visiting the facility.
Customer Service
  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, visitors, and fellow team members.
  • Foster a positive, welcoming, and engaging atmosphere throughout the facility.
  • Help create meaningful experiences that enhance each resident's quality of life.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in activities, recreation, healthcare, customer service, or working with older adults is preferred but not required.
