Job description

Job Summary/Overview
The Electrical Designer organizes the documents and details from each order, creates drawings, and requisitions parts to ensure the timely and accurate manufacturing of product, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare moderately complex to complex designs including layouts, drawings and designs for the Material Handling products customer specifications, sales quotes and customer's purchase orders, ensuring the most cost effective and accurate results.
  • Design schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layout drawings, etc. using CAD.
  • Create drawings from written and verbal specifications.
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Create bills of materials that include control enclosure, components, and wire.
  • Resolve any engineering issues as they arise in fabrication, assembly, and service.
  • Observe safety procedures and meet electrical codes.
  • Perform the second check of control order designs and approve the drawings before final release by the supervisor.
  • Act as a technical resource to production, customers, purchasing, sales/application engineering and vendors to address and resolve issues, inquiries and problems regarding control orders.
  • May be required to create and maintain CAD libraries for components used in the design process.
  • Assist in training electrical designers in the most cost effective methods and procedures that meet quality standards while reducing costs.
  • Assist with implementing procedures and design standards.
  • Assist in the review and on-going, continuous improvement of design system standards.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and approach tasks with a sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Software.
  • Possess strong technical skills and the ability to be flexible and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience with Industrial Controls and/or Material Handling products, simulation and systems are preferred.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Associate degree, or Technical school coursework preferred.
  • 1+ year(s) experience with electrical systems or manufacturing experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience working with CAD Electrical preferred.
