Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is a global leader across consulting and engineering across energy and the built environment. We deliver projects, operations and specialty consulting around the world in more than 60 countries with over 40,000 employees.  We are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Designer to join our team in Calgary.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide design and technical support for the layout, design and specification of electrical systems for industrial plants and related infrastructure.
  • To carry out duties and responsibilities as assigned by the lead electrical engineer
  • Design and Draft equipment and auxiliary components in 2D and 3D drawing environments
  • Assist designers and engineers with drawing coordination reviews
  • Establish good working relationships and communicate with designers, area leads, department managers, clients and other team members to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design
  • Accountable for the quality of deliverables.
  • Perform assignments with limited instruction
  • Leading design work groups or project design teams with limited supervision.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff, including assigning work and evaluating technical competence.
  • Site visits as required to obtain necessary information
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code CEC 
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, applicable codes and standards
  • Flexible and able to prioritize workload in conjunction with project needs
  • Strong communication skills, professional ethics and ability to take the initiative and display a commitment to contribute to the project
Skills / Qualifications
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Design Technology or similar.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant design/drafting experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, S3D, E3D, PDMS, Smart Plant Electrical and/or knowledge of PDS modeling tool
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
