JOB SUMMARY

Provide quality care and services to patients by assisting dentists and other staff in a variety of patient care duties including but not limited to preparation of exam rooms and instruments, proper sterilization techniques of instruments, operating dental equipment, and taking x-rays.  \

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years related work experience as a dental assistant
  • CPR certification or the ability to obtain
  • Current and up to date Ohio Dental Board Radiograph Permit
  • Follow consistently universal precautions and OSHA guidelines
  • Ability to work with diverse patient populations
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrate proficient time management skills
  • Demonstrate consistent on time attendance for all scheduled work hours

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean, sterilize, properly store instruments, and assist with ordering dental supplies to ensure inventory needs are met.
  • Room patient during intake, take blood pressure, and dismiss patients with appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Assists dental clinic flow and operation by providing supplies and equipment as requested by Dentists. Assists with chair-side assistance, discuss treatment plans and postoperative instructions as directed by the Dentists.
  • Follows organizations standards of client care and satisfaction, complies with QAI program, and communicates all client complaints to the Dental Director and does so for immediate problem resolution.
  • Ability to document and chart each visit in the EHR (electronic health record)
  • Ability to schedule patients for follow up visits or assist with rescheduling appointments.
  • Computer literacy: Ability to email, fax, screen
  • Assists with wrap-up and clean up at the close of dental clinic.
  • Promotes effective communication within and between departments through teamwork.
  • Attends departmental and health center all staff meetings.
  • Contributes to departmental and organizational decision-making through active participation.
  • Works effectively and positively with co-workers and volunteers.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. It requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Travel and work outside of normal hours may be required for meetings, presentations, trainings and other events.
