What is an assistant dental shadowing?

Assistant Dental Shadowing positions are opportunities for individuals, often students interested in dentistry, to observe and assist dental professionals in a clinical setting. These roles allow participants to gain firsthand experience with dental procedures, patient care, and the day-to-day operations of a dental office. While shadowing, assistants typically observe treatments, help with basic tasks, and learn about sterilization and safety protocols. This experience is valuable for those considering a career in dentistry, as it provides insight into the field and enhances dental school applications.

What do assistant dental shadowing participants do?

As an Assistant Dental Shadowing participant, you can expect to observe a variety of dental procedures, assist with preparing instruments, and support patient flow in the clinic. You'll gain first-hand insight into dental office workflows, sterilization techniques, patient communication, and the responsibilities of dental assistants and hygienists. This role is an excellent chance to learn about dental charting, infection control, and the importance of teamwork in providing patient care. Shadowing also lets you ask questions and build professional relationships, which can be valuable for your future career in dentistry or dental assisting.

What skills and qualifications are needed for assistant dental shadowing?

To thrive in Assistant Dental Shadowing, a foundational understanding of basic dental terminology, strong observational skills, and a genuine interest in dentistry are essential, often supported by enrollment in a pre-dental or related academic program. Familiarity with dental office protocols and exposure to digital radiography or patient management systems can be beneficial. Professionalism, attention to detail, and effective communication are important soft skills for interacting with dental staff and patients. These skills and qualities help ensure a meaningful learning experience, support patient comfort, and prepare individuals for a future career in dentistry.

Job description

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Home Health | Lakewood, NJ | Full-Time | $35-$55/Visit

Are you a licensed PTA ready to leave behind the double-booking, productivity quotas, and clinic burnout? Stern at Home Therapy is hiring a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant to deliver one-on-one care in patients' homes across Lakewood and Ocean County, NJ.

About Stern at Home Therapy:

We're a home therapy practice built around a simple belief: clinicians do their best work when they have real autonomy. Our PTAs set their own schedules, treat one patient at a time, and have a dedicated admin team behind them handling the logistics. We've built this role to fit your life - not the other way around.

What the Job Looks Like:

You'll implement individualized care plans and treat a primarily geriatric population in their homes across Lakewood, Toms River, Brick, and surrounding Ocean County communities, working closely with supervising PTs. A dedicated admin team manages scheduling, documentation support, and coordination - you focus on the patient in front of you. Shadowing is available if you're newer to home health or just want to see the model before committing.

Our Stern Scheduling Assurance Plan backs up our promise to keep your caseload full: if we can't fill your schedule and can't replace a cancellation, you get paid for up to 2 cancellations per month.

Why PTAs Choose This Role:

  • $35-$55 per visit, tiered - earn more as you take on more visits.
  • Salary option available.
  • Set your own schedule and availability.
  • One patient at a time - no double-booking, ever.
  • Fast onboarding - most clinicians start within 2 weeks.
  • Cancellation protection pay (up to 2/month).
  • Dedicated admin team handles the rest.
  • Shadowing available.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • PTO and paid holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Student loan repayment program.
  • CEU support.
  • Commuter support package.
  • Quarterly wellness stipend.
  • Childcare assistance.

What We're Looking For:

  • Active PTA license in New Jersey (required).
  • Reliable transportation (required).
  • Minimum 1 year of U.S. clinical experience (preferred).
  • CPR certification (preferred).
  • Home health experience preferred - not required.
  • Strong communication and bedside manner.

How to Apply:

Reach out directly - quick intro call with Yale, and most clinicians are seeing patients within two weeks.
