Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
1. Associate's degree or higher in database management, computer science or related field is preferred.
2. Three years' experience data management.
3. Microsoft SQL Server experience is preferred
4. Experience working in education environment preferred
5. Excellent customer service skills, communication and work well with others and meet deadlines
6. Good past record of attendance and punctuality.
Job Goals:
The Database Specialist administers and maintains district-level Student Information System programs and relational databases. This individual is responsible for converting student data into various formats and uploading data and managing it so that it is compatible with a variety of district applications. This position requires working closely with other employees at all levels of the district and knowledge of relational database management/programming, student accounting procedures and regulations, source data, and the functionality of the Student Information Systems in order to support school and district operations and to generate federal, state and local reports and data submissions.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Administers and maintains district-level Student Information System programs and relational databases including, but not limited to, Follett, Illuminate/eduClimber, EzReports, Pearson, Riverside CogAt, ParentSquare, DIBELS, McGraw Hill, TSGold, Titan, Scoir, and Infinite Campus. Ensures data integrity and security while coordinating with multiple vendors handling the district's student data.
2. Retrieve data from varied sources to create reports that summarize and analyze information as needed for building, school systems, administrators and Colorado Department of Education.
3. Prepare complex customized reports from multiple data sources for school and district needs. Develop SQL Reporting Services reports as needed.
4. Develops, maintains, monitors and trouble shoots automation processes and site/application data population.
5. Analyze, organize and present all student and district data to inform, educate and promote informed decision-making processes for district instructional leaders and teachers.
6. Analyze and problem solve issues that arise in program/database management.
7. Provide information and training to school/district staff on the use of the Student Information System and appropriate use of student data from the system.
8. Coordinate user security within all Student Information System programs and relational databases.
9. Develop and implement processes and procedures for data archival and retrieval.
10. Develop and implement processes and procedures for task and reporting automation.
11. Collaborates with district/department personnel and instructional leaders to support and manage the data necessary to make systematic and strategic changes to learning and instruction. Advise and assist with evaluation of existing and potential systems that integrate staff, student, or parent data.
12. Collect assessment data from various online assessments. Archive state and district assessment results into assessment area of Infinite Campus, Illuminate, and eduClimber.
13. Generates complex electronic data files from multiple data sources.
14. Attend state and local conferences and classes to develop and maintain knowledge of relational database management and the student information systems.
15. Perform other duties as assigned and cover the district Help Desk as needed

Database Specialists are paid off of the Supplemental Salary Schedule
