Job description

Your role:

As Director, Cyber Security Operations, you will provide strategic leadership for Global Relay's operational cyber defense capability, ensuring the organization can effectively detect, respond to and, recover from cyber threats. You will define the vision, operating model and strategic direction for the function while building a high-performing organization focused on operational excellence and continual capability maturity.
You will serve as a trusted security leader, partnering with executive leadership, Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, Governance, and Security Architecture & Technology to align operational capabilities with business priorities, reduce cyber risk and enable secure business growth.
Working within the Information Security leadership team, you will oversee the evolution of Global Relay's Security Operations & Threat Management capability, establishing operational governance, performance measures, and strategic priorities while driving continual improvement across incident response, threat management and technical vulnerability prioritization.

Your responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the strategy, roadmap and maturity plan for Security Operations
  • Lead the Security Operations, Incident Response, Threat Hunting, Threat Intelligence Operations, and Technical Vulnerability Prioritization capabilities.
  • Establish operational governance, performance measures and executive reporting.
  • Provide executive leadership during significant cyber incidents and crisis events.
  • Ensure enterprise security technologies are effectively operated to achieve business outcomes.
  • Partner with Security Architecture & Technology to establish operational requirements for new capabilities and technology enhancements.
  • Develop workforce strategy, succession planning, and organizational capability.
  • Lead operational risk reduction through continual improvement, metrics and service maturity.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive leadership, Engineering, Operations, Product, and other business areas.
  • Support customer assurance, audits and regulatory commitments.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence, collaboration, and accountability.

About you:

  • 8-10+ years in Cyber Security, including significant leadership experience overseeing enterprise Security Operations, Incident Response and Threat Management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience building, leading, and maturing modern Security Operations functions within complex, highly available enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to develop strategy, operating models, and capability roadmaps that strengthen cyber resilience while enabling business objectives.
  • Deep understanding of modern Security Operations disciplines including incident response, threat intelligence, threat hunting, technical vulnerability prioritization, security monitoring, and operational resilience.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise security technologies including SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, vulnerability management, cloud security, identity services, and security analytics, with experience overseeing their operational use in partnership with Security Architecture & Technology.
  • Experience establishing operational governance, executive reporting, performance metrics, and continual improvement programs.
  • Working knowledge of industry frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, SOC 2, and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Information Security certifications are highly desirable and may include CISSP, CISM, GIAC certifications, or equivalent industry-recognized credentials.
  • Exceptional executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate cyber risk and operational performance to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Strategic, outcome-focused leader with demonstrated success influencing organizational priorities and leading through change.
  • Strong organizational, financial, and people leadership skills with experience building high-performing teams and developing future leaders.
  • Proven ability to build trusted partnerships across the organization and align security operations with broader business and technology objectives.
