Job Title: Folder Operator - Heidelberg Stahlfolder
Department: Bindery / Finishing
Reports To: Bindery Supervisor or Production Manager

Position Summary

The Folder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Heidelberg Stahlfolder equipment to produce high-quality folded printed materials according to production specifications and deadlines. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate Heidelberg Stahlfolder machines for a variety of folding jobs; Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, folding schematics, and production specifications; Adjust machine settings including fold plates, rollers, feeders, and delivery systems to ensure accurate folds and proper alignment; Perform quality checks throughout production runs to verify fold accuracy, pagination, trim size, and overall product quality; Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain production efficiency; Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues to minimize downtime; Conduct routine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment; Maintain accurate production and maintenance records; Work closely with press operators, bindery staff, and supervisors to meet production schedules and customer deadlines; Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment; Assist with training junior operators or helpers as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience operating Heidelberg Stahlfolder or similar commercial folding equipment.
  • Strong understanding of folding processes, paper stocks, grain direction, and bindery operations.
