Job description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Laser Operator for our client, a manufacturing and metal processing facility manufacturing saw blades. This role supports production by operating laser cutting equipment to process steel materials according to customer specifications. This position offers on-the-job training for candidates with mechanical aptitude who are interested in developing skills in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with equipment and materials in a production setting.

Pay & Schedule

Pay: $22-24/hour, DOE

Shifts (in order of priority):

  • Graveyard: Sunday-Wednesday, 8pm to 6:30am ($1.50/hr differential)

  • Swing: Monday - Friday, 2pm-10:30pm ($1/hr differential)

  • Day: Monday - Friday, 5:30am-2pm

Position Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate laser cutting equipment to cut metal components to order specifications

  • Uncoil and feed steel into laser machines based on required gauge and width

  • Load and manage job files within the system to execute production orders

  • Monitor production to ensure quality, accuracy, and minimal material waste

  • Prioritize and complete orders efficiently while maintaining workflow

  • Perform basic machine adjustments including focus and height alignment

  • Assist with general maintenance and alignment of laser equipment

  • Use forklifts and cranes to safely load and unload materials

  • Track material usage and support inventory control processes

  • Dispose of scrap materials and maintain a clean work area

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment

  • Ability to follow written instructions and production specifications

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

  • Ability to work graveyard shift
