Blackberry is seeking skilled art instructors to join our talented Studio team. Art Instructors are responsible for greeting and welcoming incoming guests to the Studio and offer an overall spirit of hospitality. Make guests feel comfortable while guiding them through a creative experience that is intended to leave them feeling energized and inspired. Art instructors with varied skills must have the knowledge and ability to teach participants in varying skill levels: Beginner, Intermediate to Advanced Levels. Our instructional goal for our guest experience is to promote creativity, foster imagination and to uncover new perspectives in art.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare Studio and Tools necessary for Upcoming Classes
  • Instruct guests throughout Art classes to ensure a Five-Star Experience
  • Assist and guide the guests in new and unfamiliar techniques
  • Conduct a variety of art classes including, but not limited to:
    • Two and four-hour classes
    • Pottery: Wheel- Throwing, Hand Building, Tile Making, and Raku Firing Methods
    • Drawing and Sketching: Lead, Graphite & Colored Pencil/ Trail Side
    • Painting: Acrylic and Watercolor/ Trail Side
    • Basketmaking: Flat Reed, Round Reed, and Natural Vine
    • Textiles: Cross stitch, Embroidery, Crochet and Knitting
    • Curated art experience
    • Meditative marbling, suminagashi
  • Create and Develop relationships with the guests during studio sessions
  • Responsible for ensuring that studio space and tools are cleaned properly after each class and put away properly including: cleaning sink & floor mop duties
  • Keep up with Pottery: Trim & Glaze ware-ready work to be fired in the bisque & glaze kilns, load & unload kilns, create shipping forms, enter guest data into a computer, wrap & label pieces to be ready for shipment.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures.

To perform the essential functions of this position regular and consistent attendance is required.

Must be able to work well with other Team Members and Managers and interact with our guests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • none

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Art
  • 1-3 years instructing experience
  • Competent in Excel

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must interact extensively with guests

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic math skills

REASONING ABILITY

  • Must be able to resolve any issues regarding guests in relation to the program
  • Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on safety, job knowledge, and awareness of company goals

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle or golf cart

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • 4,200 acres of Blackberry Farm property and 5,200 acres of Blackberry Mountain property
