Position Type: Part-time



Summary

In-person or remotely teaches 3 semester hours per academic year, Teaching the Writing Process. Additional duties include supporting student growth, on-going professional development, supporting Principia activities, and promoting Christian Science-based character education in accord with Principia’s mission as outlined in Education at The Principia.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teaches 3 semester hours per academic year in Writing
  • Is an active character educator in accordance with Principia’s mission
  • Supports metaphysically the mission and goals of the institution and its operations
  • Maintains office hours
  • Meets with students for academic support
  • Works actively with others in performing the general business and decision making of the department and academic Center
  • Teaches courses within the context of Principia's philosophy of liberal arts education
  • If remote: Prepares all course materials in Canvas for review two weeks before start of term
Additional Duties
  • Works closely with students to further develop their thinking, writing, research, and communication skills
  • If remote: Adhere to minimum quality standards in Quality Matters and Canvas checklists outlined on pages 15-21 in the Remote Course Education Handbook

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Writing Ph.D in Writing or related field preferred

  • Ability to work with a range of students and skill levels
  • Classroom teaching experience or work with college-aged students preferred
  • If remote: Demonstrated facility and comfort with navigating and leveraging a learning management system
  • If remote: Demonstrated evidence of previously prepared and conducted online courses

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive starting salary range for this position: $6,000-$8,100 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
