The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), managing financial transactions and internal controls, and serving as an integral member of the accounting department's management team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop multiple accounting managers and their teams.
  • Generate monthly internal operational reports and financial statements; respond to inquiries from operational teams and leadership regarding monthly reports and results.
  • Support completion of annual external audited financial statements: organize the Accounting team to pull required sample selection support, update existing memos and assist with newly required memos, assist with financial statement and footnote tie-out, and assist with clearing auditor comments.
  • Record confidential payroll and compensation-related journal entries and provide audit support for those entries when requested.
  • Calculate and eliminate internal revenue and costs between Kastle divisions.
  • Perform monthly translation of the financial results of the Australian subsidiary into USD.
  • Record the monthly commission entry based on data received from the commission software system (Varicent).

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field. Advanced studies or degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • 2–3 years of public accounting experience preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Experience with a high-growth, global technology company with revenues of more than $150M (and less than $1B).
  • Minimum of three (3) years directly managing accounting staff, including experience developing managers and building team capability.
  • Demonstrated ownership of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, including close calendar management and meeting aggressive deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of technical accounting standards relevant to a growth technology company, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), and stock-based compensation (ASC 718). Ability to research technical issues and document conclusions in memo form.
  • Experience with ERP implementation, migration, or optimization preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced level proficiency in Excel. Aggregating large data sets from multiple input sources. Utilizing advanced formulas referencing multiple workbooks to summarize data while also preparing the same data in a format that can be uploaded to the accounting system.
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of documents such as policies, procedures, and written correspondence.
  • Ability to perform complex accounting calculations.
