Job description

Senior Accountant
Location: Logan, UT
We are looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on Senior Accountant to join our onsite finance team in a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning core accounting processes while also taking on broader assistant controller responsibilities. You will play a key part in month-end close, financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting, fixed assets, internal controls, and process improvement. The right candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to partner effectively with operations and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the monthly and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain the general ledger and help ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Own key areas of manufacturing accounting, including inventory, cost accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and gross margin reporting.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and company leadership to understand production activity and ensure accurate financial results.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and capital project tracking.
  • Assist with the development, documentation, and monitoring of internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis by preparing reports and investigating variances.
  • Coordinate audit requests and prepare schedules for external auditors.
  • Prepare and file 1099 forms accurately and on time, and maintain related vendor tax documentation.
  • Help identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and strengthen the overall accounting function.
  • Serve as a key backup and partner to the Controller, helping oversee day-to-day accounting operations and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, fixed assets, and account reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting month-end close, audits, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work cross-functionally with finance and operations teams.
  • CPA or CMA is a plus.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
