About Us

The Top of West Virginia Convention & Visitors Bureau promotes tourism, events, and travel experiences throughout Brooke and Hancock Counties, WV. We operate a visitor center, art gallery, gift shop, and events while supporting local businesses, community organizations, and regional attractions. We are seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Content Coordinator to join our team.


Position Summary

The Content Coordinator will support the Top of WVโ€™s marketing and communications efforts by helping create, organize, and share content that promotes the region, local businesses, attractions, events, and visitor experiences. 

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys social media, writing, photography, design, and storytelling and is interested in gaining hands-on experience in tourism marketing and communications. The Content Coordinator also helps manage the front desk and visitors center. 

The Content Coordinator will work closely with the Marketing & Visitor Experience Manager to support the organizationโ€™s content and marketing goals. The position ultimately reports to the Executive Director.

This is a part-time position that will primarily be performed on-site. Some flexibility in scheduling may be available depending on organizational needs. Occasional evenings or additional hours may be required to support events, capture content, or assist with time-sensitive projects.


Duties & Responsibilities

Social Media & Content Creation

  • Draft and schedule social media posts for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Assist with creating content that promotes local attractions, businesses, events, and tourism experiences.
  • Monitor social media messages, comments, and engagement. Respond appropriately or refer inquiries to other staff when needed.
  • Assist with maintaining the organizationโ€™s content calendar.
  • Take photos and videos for use on social media, the website, newsletters and other marketing materials.
  • Help identify opportunities for new content and stories to share.


Marketing & Communications Support

  • Prepare content for email newsletters and other communications.
  • Upload and update website content (event listings, photos, news).
  • Assist with the creation of promotional materials, graphics, posters, brochures, and other marketing pieces.
  • Help ensure that content follows the organizationโ€™s brand, voice, and communication standards.
  • Gather information from local businesses, attractions, and community organizations for promotional purposes.


Visitor Services and Event Support

Because the Top of WV is a small team, the Content Coordinator will also assist with visitor center responsibilities, including:

  • Greet visitors and provide travel information and recommendations.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to general inquiries, and direct messages to appropriate staff.
  • Assist in the gift shop with sales.
  • Help distribute posters, brochures, and promotional materials locally.
  • Provide on-site support during events (check-in, setup, photography, etc.)


Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient with  social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
  • Experience with or willingness to learn programs such as Adobe Creative Cloud,  WordPress, and social media scheduling tools.
  • Basic photography and videography skills are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established brand guidelines.
  • Friendly, professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a small team.
  • Organized, dependable, and willing to learn.
