The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgiaโ€™s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and significant improvements to the corridor. Construction began in late 2022, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.

The Assistant Superintendent will support field operations across multiple work zones within the SR400 Express Lanes corridor, working closely with the General Superintendent and other team members to ensure compliance with GDOT standards, project schedules, and safety requirements. This position will assist in coordinating daily activities, managing subcontractors, and maintaining quality standards across assigned scopes of work.

Job Description
  • Assist in coordinating work across multiple segments of the corridor, supporting oversight of foremen, field engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the Project Controls and Scheduling teams to maintain alignment with the Primavera P6 baseline schedule and weekly look-aheads.
  • Monitor and support construction activities such as bridge structures, earthwork, temporary traffic control, utility relocation, and storm drainage in compliance with GDOT TP Attachments.
  • Serve as a liaison between field crews and project management, ensuring timely communication and documentation.
  • Help enforce safety standards and participate in safety audits and inspections.
  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor work plans, schedules, and material/equipment needs.
  • Support daily reporting of progress, manpower, and equipment utilization.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and help resolve field issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and traffic control plans.
  • Assist with documentation for quality control, including GDOT Standard Specs and SRTA requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy civil construction experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role.
  • Experience with highway or bridge projects preferred; GDOT or other Southeast DOT experience is a plus.
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of GDOT specifications, safety standards, and traffic control requirements.
  • Familiarity with project management software and documentation tools (e.g., Procore, HCSS).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and traffic control plans.
