Assistant Baseball Coach – Baseball

Brazosport College

Position Summary

The Assistant Baseball Coach plays a critical role in launching and building Brazosport College's NJCAA Division I baseball program. Reporting to the Head Baseball Coach, this position assists in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, coaching, player development, operations, compliance, and community engagement. The successful candidate will help establish a championship culture while supporting the College's mission of developing student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruiting and Program Development

  • Assist in developing and executing a comprehensive year-round recruiting strategy.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes through evaluations, showcases, camps, video analysis, and relationship-building with high school, travel, junior college, and club coaches.
  • Build and maintain recruiting pipelines throughout Texas and surrounding states.
  • Coordinate recruiting communications, campus visits, admissions support, and prospect evaluations.
  • Promote Brazosport College Baseball through community engagement, social media, and outreach activities.
  • Help establish the program's culture, standards, expectations, and long-term recruiting infrastructure.

Coaching and Player Development

  • Assist in planning and conducting practices, training sessions, and game preparation.
  • Provide position-specific instruction based on expertise (pitching, hitting, infield, outfield, or catching).
  • Develop individualized player improvement plans using instruction, evaluation, and technology when appropriate.
  • Assist with offensive, defensive, pitching, scouting, and game strategy.
  • Mentor student-athletes by promoting academic achievement, leadership, character development, and personal accountability.
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and competitive team culture.

Operations and Administration

  • Assist with equipment management, inventory, travel coordination, and game-day operations.
  • Support compliance with NJCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Assist with camps, clinics, fundraising, and community service initiatives.
  • Contribute to program marketing, branding, and social media efforts.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Baseball Coach.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Collegiate and/or professional playing or coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated recruiting experience and the ability to evaluate talent.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and collegiate athletics operations preferred.
  • Experience using recruiting, player development, and performance analysis technology is preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively.
