ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Assistant Softball Coach

Primary duties are instructional in nature, and in executing instruction, assistant coach is expected to exercise independent judgement and discretion as to how best teach student-athletes with who they work
The assistant coaches' instructional delivery method should not be demeaning, abusive or detrimental to team concepts
Assistant coach will instruct proper skills and skill development to student-athletes
Instructional responsibilities must encompass at least 50% of the coaches' time and include instruction of physical health, skills, technique, team concepts, match strategies, and safety.
Assistant coach will work under the supervision of the head coach, and perhaps one or more other position coaches, but assistant coaches have independence in the manner and method of instruction and are responsible for designing instruction for individual student-athletes and for their specific team needs

Weight room supervision periodically
Coordinates directly with housing department

Resident Director

Select, train and supervise resident assistants
Maintain office hours for students in assigned halls
Supervise and perform the administrative responsibilities of the residence halls assigned:

o opening and closing
o evaluate room conditions
o room assignment and check-in
o maintaining student housing contracts and files
o maintain updated roster
o conduct room checks
o request appropriate maintenance and repair for residence halls assigned

Develop, maintain, and provide training on emergency procedures for residence halls
Coordinate with campus departments to develop educational, student development, safety and wellness programming for residents
Conduct and supervise room check for residents
Address discipline issues and process student write-up or referral to campus police/student conduct as appropriate
Develop a community atmosphere for residents
Provide opportunities for student engagement and create a living learning environment for residents
Coordinate with the Residence Life Council for hall activities and events

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree preferred
Previous experience in coaching
