Position Summary: The Assistant Lacrosse Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the lacrosse program, including athlete development, team operations, practice planning, game preparation, administrative responsibilities, and fostering a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented environment. This role helps ensure the lacrosse program aligns with organizational standards, student-athlete well-being, academic success, and competitive excellence both on and off the field.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting high-quality lacrosse practices, skill development sessions, team training, and individual development plans
  • Support the development of student-athletes' technical lacrosse skills, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and mental performance
  • Teach and reinforce offensive and defensive systems, transition play, game strategies, lacrosse fundamentals, and situational decision-making
  • Assist with game preparation, scouting reports, film review, opponent analysis, and post-game evaluations
  • Maintain open, two-way communication with student-athletes and parents/guardians regarding progress, goals, development plans, and the student's overall growth in athletics, academics, and campus life
  • Guide student-athletes through tournament and competition preparation, including scheduling, travel coordination, pre-game readiness, post-game review, and performance benchmarks
  • Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress, accountability, discipline, and overall well-being
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of lacrosse instructional equipment, performance technology, analytics tools, and coaching methodologies used within the Academy's lacrosse programs
  • Serve as a mentor and educator, fostering leadership, teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship, and life skills in each student-athlete
  • Continuously evaluate the athletic, academic, and emotional development of student-athletes and collaborate with leadership to ensure appropriate internal and external resources are engaged
  • Assist in the college placement and recruitment process for student-athletes as needed
  • Collaborate with leadership to regularly review and enhance program structure, curriculum, training delivery, objectives, and resources, providing recommendations to improve quality and support program growth
  • Support recruiting and retention initiatives for current and prospective student-athletes
  • Travel with teams to practices, tournaments, showcases, and competitions as needed
  • Assist in lacrosse camps, clinics, and event delivery throughout the year
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational, conference, league, and governing body rules, policies, and procedures
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High standard of proficiency in lacrosse coaching techniques, skill instruction, and player development
  • Experience playing, coaching, or managing lacrosse at the collegiate, club, academy, national, or professional level
  • Strong knowledge of lacrosse fundamentals, offensive and defensive systems, game strategy, player development principles, and position-specific instruction
  • Bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management, business administration, or a related sports or business field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong commitment to student-athlete development and success both on and off the field
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and staff
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Skills:
  • Bilingual
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to drive for tournaments, games, and team travel
  • Experience working lacrosse camps and clinics
  • Experience with video analysis, performance technology, and lacrosse analytics platforms
  • Collegiate recruiting or player placement experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
  • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
  • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
