Day in the life
Start your morning on the production floor in Lake Zurich, IL, walking past a row of Okuma CNC machining centers humming through aluminum parts for leading marine and recreation brands. An axis alarm flashes. You dive into diagnostics, read the electrical schematics, check servo feedback, verify lubrication flow, and make a precise mechanical adjustment. Before lunch, you perform a spindle inspection and align a tool changer. In the afternoon, you coach a junior technician through a PLC troubleshooting exercise, complete scheduled PMs, and then meet with engineering to plan an upgrade that boosts equipment reliability. You wrap up by logging detailed notes and verifying every machine you touched is running smoothly.
