The City of Sterling Heights is seeking an organized and detail-oriented part-time Account Clerks who is committed to excellence to join the Office of Neighborhood Services!

  • Hourly pay starts at $25.6410/hr
  • Pay increases every twelve (12) months and annually on July 1st

Position Summary

The Account Clerk, under general supervision, performs clerical and administrative duties related to the Office of Neighborhood Services operations. The Account Clerk regularly interacts with residents and businesses through a variety of channels including phone, email, and in-person at the department's counter. Due to the nature and volume of transactions, an Account Clerk must be accurate, conscientious, and detail-oriented. The Account Clerk must have a solid foundation in basic accounting and administrative functions, including computations and reporting, and an ability to utilize a variety of office software applications to assist in completing job tasks. The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is critical to success in this position.

The Office of Neighborhood Services pride themselves on providing exceptional customer service and accurate information to the public, so the Account Clerk must present a strong customer service orientation while maintaining attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of office work experience, one year of which was served in an accounting capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including competency in using Microsoft Office software and spreadsheet capability.
