Job description

Position Summary

Assist the Fort Natural Resources Specialist in accomplishing goals set forth in the Post's Integrated Natural Resources Plan. These goals will include conducting environmental education programs, invasive species control, assisting with plant and animal surveys, habitat management, inputting survey data, and equipment maintenance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Cutting and treating bush honeysuckle; Learning and putting data into various citizen science projects such as but not exhaustive: Journey North, Monarch Watch, eBird, Avian Knowledge Network, INaturalist, etc.; Trail maintenance to include removing downed trees with chainsaws, mowing and weed eating; Setting and checking various live traps: crayfish traps, hoop net turtle traps, Sherman Live Traps, etc.

Marginal Duties

Maintenance of various tools; Cleaning vehicles and buildings used by SCA; Constructing various structures out of wood

Required Qualifications

A willingness to learn; Ability to follow directions

Preferred Qualifications

Some mechanical aptitude Biological Sciences background Interest in wildlife and wildlife management

Hours

40 per week

Living Accommodations

Member is responsible for finding own living arrangements in the area.

Compensation

  • $650/week Living Allowance
  • $1,100 Relocation Allowance (paid once)

All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
